Why this petition matters

Started by beach

The city of Holmes beach has decided to permanently eliminate close to 2,000 parking spaces on the island which will reduce the number  of spaces from approximately 2,500 spaces down to 500. this equates to about 20% of available parking left remaining. This will in turn cause an increase in traffic, less customers for business owners, and more people parking illegally in areas that are more sensitive than the previously outlined spaces. This undertaking has largely been done with little input and during a trying time of covid 19 leaving a lot of people scratching their heads. this policy will eliminate parking for many residents of Holmes beach and neighboring Bradenton and leave a lot of businesses with a reduced amount of traffic. These are public streets and have been for many years, anyone who moved into the area did so knowing very well the way parking is handled. I urge anyone who enjoys spending time with family, enjoying nature, watching the sunset or anything else on Holmes beach and neighboring beaches to sign this petition.
