All Ukrainian Canadians and Canadians of all origins and our allies  demand that the Canadian government dramatically increase our military assistance to Ukraine now. 

The sturdy Ruthenian, Galician and Austrian peasants in sheepskin coats who the Department of Immigration brought in to settle the west are the very same ethnic Ukrainians who endured unimaginable conditions to build the prairies provinces.  Canada literally owes its existence as a trans-continental country along with its present prosperity to the Ukrainians who played a major role in building our rich and stable country.

So how can we stand by now with detachment or with meaningless expressions of “thoughts and prayers” while Ukrainians fight to avert the genocide being prepared for them now by Putin?  Anyone who thinks this is a civil war or a ‘special military operation’ should inform themselves about the millions who previously perished in the Holodomor famine implemented by Russia to exterminate the Ukrainian people in the 1930s. 

Back then, when France and Britain were threatened, we mobilized without hesitation but what have we done so far to help Ukraine?   Some mittens and eight old tanks?    We spend more to keep space junk in orbit and a great many other foolish things.   Our support to Ukraine is less than 0.2% of our federal government spending in 2023. 

Canada is the main home of the Ukrainian diaspora outside Europe.  We can and must do more.  It is the right thing to do and who’s going to stand by us if we don’t stand by Ukraine now?

Tou(te)s les Canadien(ne)s d'origine ukrainienne et de toutes origines et nos allié(e)s exigent que notre gouvernement augmente considérablement l'aide militaire de notre pays à l'Ukraine dès maintenant.

Les robustes paysan(ne)s ruthènes, galicien(ne)s et autrichien(ne)s en manteaux de peau de mouton que le ministère de l'Immigration a amenés pour s'installer dans l'Ouest sont les memes Ukrainiens de souche qui ont enduré des conditions inimaginables pour construire les provinces des prairies. Le Canada doit littéralement son existence en tant que pays transcontinental et sa prospérité actuelle aux Ukrainiens qui ont joué un rôle majeur dans l'édification de notre pays riche et stable.

Alors, comment pouvons-nous rester maintenant avec détachement ou avec nos expressions dénuées de sens de « pensées et prières » pendant que les Ukrainiens se battent pour éviter le génocide a venir qui leur est préparé par Poutine? Ce ne sera pas le premier. Quiconque pense qu'il s'agit d'une guerre civile ou d'une "opération militaire spéciale" devrait se renseigner sur les millions de victimes de la famine de «l’Holodomor » mise en place par la Russie pour exterminer le peuple ukrainien dans les années 1930.

A cet époque, lorsque la France et la Grande-Bretagne ont été menacées, nous nous sommes mobilisés sans hésiter mais qu'avons-nous fait jusqu'à présent pour aider l'Ukraine ? Des mitaines et huit vieux chars ? C'est une honte.  Le government federal canadien ne consacre que 0.2% de son budget annuel actuel a l'aide a l'Ukraine.

Le Canada est le principal foyer de la diaspora ukrainienne hors d'Europe. Nous pouvons et devons faire plus. La sauvagerie russe ne peut être récompensée.

Qui va nous défendre si nous ne défendons pas l'Ukraine maintenant?
