Combine the basketball teams for 8th grade boys

Combine the basketball teams for 8th grade boys

The Issue

In our community, the 8th-grade basketball season is a time for growth, teamwork, and unforgettable memories. However, this season, our boys are facing an uphill battle due to the lack of players. With too few boys to form a full team, they're often left without the ability to properly substitute players during games. This is taking a toll not just on their performance on the court but also on their physical well-being.

Our boys are forced to play the entire game with minimal breaks, leading to fatigue and poor decision-making during matches. The physical demands on them are overwhelming, and it's simply not fair when competing against teams with 12 to 14 players, where substitutes are readily available. As parents and community members concerned for our children’s health and growth, it's crucial that we reconsider how our basketball team is managed for this critical final season.

The solution is straightforward: combining two small 8th-grade teams into a single, competitive team will ensure all our boys have sufficient support and rest, leading to a healthier, more equitable, and enjoyable final season. This will provide enough substitutes to allow regular rotations, reducing the risk of injury and overexertion, and let our boys showcase their skills without unnecessary stress.

By signing this petition, you’re advocating for a sensible change that prioritizes the health and development of our young athletes. Let’s come together to support our 8th-grade boys' basketball team, ensuring a season where they can thrive and create lasting, positive memories. Please sign today to make this vital change a reality.
