Combat Rising Animal Abuse Cases in Leflore County
The Issue
On November 17th, a family in the county found a large, heavy trash bag in their backyard. They opened it up to see two dead Pitbulls inside. The family reported that they appeared to have been dead for about a week. One of the animals had his head ripped from his body. This is regrettably not the only instance.
Across Leflore County, animal abuse cases are ramping up in a terrifyingly dark way. Dogs are stolen from their yards, while those who love them are left to never know of their fate. It's a sad ending because you know there is little chance of getting them back unless you have footage or a photo. This is especially true if the dog was put into one of the rumored dog-fighting rings.
There is something wrong with our county, and we need to bring awareness to this. The rising animal abuse cases need to be addressed. Not only are these heinous instances felonies nationwide, but they are often precursors to violent crime rates against humans.
The sooner we put a stop to this, the better! Sign this petition and tell our sheriff's department to step up the heat on animal abuse cases and those who take part in them. One case is too many.
Once we get plenty of signatures and people saying that this isn't okay, I'll send it to the powers that be to see if we can get something done. The longer we sit back, the more dogs and other animals will suffer. Step up and say no.
