In 2004, Darrell Lance Abbott (better known by his stage name Dimebag Darrell) was performing with his post-Pantera band Damageplan when he was murdered by a shooter who had entered the venue. The venue in question, Alrosa Villa, closed in 2020 and has since been demolished to make room for an affordable apartment building instead.

The venue continued to be a common tourist destination for Pantera fans and metalheads alike to pay respects to a fallen idol. This petition asks the city of Columbus, Ohio where the venue once was to consider placing a memorial for Darrell either inside or on the property of the new apartment complex, whether that be a plaque, statue or anything in between.
