Return Hughes Space in Fort Collins to the Stewardship of the Indigenous Peoples

Hi all, we are the Intertribal Alliance for Hughes Land Back .
Under the Treaty of Fort Laramie of 1851, multiple federal laws protecting sacred sites, and promises made by the Board of Regents in the 1990's, CSU was obligated to return Hughes Stadium Property to the Indigenous peoples who called this land their home as soon as it became vacated. Hughes Stadium was vacated in 2018 and the site has remained untouched for three years now, warranting the land to be returned.
We call on the CSU Board of Governors to provide the Indigenous nations Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) for any decision made on this and all other historically relevant territory. We call on them to recognize Hughes as a shared space and that conversations between the City of Fort Collins, Colorado State University, and the Intertribal Alliance take place before any decision is made. We call on them to tell the true history of Hughes and make it easily accessible and widely spread throughout Colorado State University. We call on them to keep the promises made so many years ago.
We are fighting for water, shelter, food, Indigenous sovereignty, history, knowledge, and ways. We are fighting for our kids and the kids of the future. We are fighting for a socially and environmentally conscious future. We are fighting for Mother Earth.
Thank you for standing with us.
We say to you, we are all related.
