Colorado State University Bring Back Bruno / Mr. Turtle

Colorado State University Bring Back Bruno / Mr. Turtle
The Issue
In November of 2024, students started noticing Bruno/Mr. Turtle was being neglected in Plant Growth Facilities again. Students and staff filed complaints with the Humane Society and the Student Affairs office of Colorado State University. By February Bruno was removed from the facility and was never seen again, claiming he went to sanctuary. After months of demanding to know exactly where Bruno went student affairs John Henderson said Tammy Brenner the manager of Plant Growth Facilities made the decision to retire Bruno to the Colorado Gators Reptile Park.
In 2019 at the Gator Park, a water pipe malfunction exposed alligators to cold water and 12 alligators died of pneumonia. In 2023 an electrical fire burned and estimated 181 animals burned alive at the Colorado Gators Reptile Park. This is not sanctuary.

We are demanding Colorado State University and Plant Growth Facilities return Mr. Turtle / Bruno the red eared slider from the Colorado Gator Park petting zoo and work with Reptile and Amphibian Center of the Rockies to find him a foster and forever home. He deserves to spend the next 30+ years with somebody who will care for and love him. CSU needs to uphold their standards of care for animals.
CSU has no current policy for Non-research animal care and enrichment so Rams Organizing for Animal Rights is working with CSU leadership and the CSU Human Animal Policy Center to create an inclusive and diversely evolving plan!

A previous PGF volunteer can identify Bruno and return him to Fort Collins if CSU takes accountability for their wrongdoing and organizes the transportation of Bruno.
Check out this interview about Bruno on Fort Collins Public Media with two local animal rights activists, Aman, and myself, Jennifer.
