We ask you, Colorado residents, to sign this petition because the failure to enforce the international ban on the sale of ivory will result in the extinction of elephants in approximately 20 years. This is an issue about conservation and preservation of our global natural heritage as well as a human security issue. Poached ivory is providing the money to international terrorist groups, bandits and international crime syndicates. Banning the trade is a fight against terrorism. Therefore, we believe that the state of Colorado can play an important role by becoming the first state to pass this resolution, and in doing so, adding our collective voice to the voices of millions of others that wish to live in a safer, more secure world, and one with elephants.
- Colorado State Legislature
To adopt a non-binding resolution supporting efforts to bring a total and complete international ban on the sale of ivory, without exception.
