Coloradans for Metro District Reform
Dec 4, 2023

In 2006 the Colorado State Auditor was critical of the lack of oversight for metro districts.  He published a report and sent it to the legislature and Governor.  Yes, in 2006.   17 years ago.

Nothing happened.

In 2008 a Colorado legislator in 2008 rang the bell about metro district abuse.  There was a series of three videos created by the Independence Institute in 2008 exposing the abuses of metro districts.  Yes, in 2008.  15 years ago.

Nothing happened.

Here is the first of the taped interviews in 2008, yes in 2008:

In January and February 2019, the Denver Post did a series of articles regarding metro district abuses.  Almost 5 years ago.

In the past three legislative sessions the industry has doubled down and fought hard to oppose simple reasonable reforms.  The legislative leadership has supported the industry's opposition to reform.

Tomorrow an industry heavy Colorado legislative and gubernatorial "task force" is going to address metro district issues.  We don't expect much given the industry dominance on the task force and dominance over the senior members of the legislature and executive office.

But we can make a record and keep that record fresh and keep demanding genuine reform.

Make your record.  Tell your story.  We will help keep it alive until there is change.   If you tell it, we won't let it be forgotten.  Click on this link, register, and tell your story:
