This weekend would be a great opportunity for you to join one of Richard Skorman's or John and Sue Spengler's informative hikes of Strawberry Fields. The Spenglers will be hosting hikes on Sunday at 9:30am and 12:30am. Meet at the S. Cheyenne parking lot near Starsmore Discovery Center. In addition to the spectacular views, John is quite a geology buff. You will be both entertained and informed -- and it's just a beautiful way to spend some time outdoors this weekend. Richard Skorman has been hosting daily hikes at 10am and 3:30pm, meet at the Sacred Grounds Coffee Shop, which have inspired some wonderful photos of the area, posted on the Save Cheyenne Facebook page, as well as impassioned views of this special land. The events are also listed on the Save Cheyenne page which you can use sign up (though not required) or to invite your Facebook friends and help spread the word. If you can't make it, the Independent has a piece on these hikes (attached below). REMINDER: Monday is Keith King's Town Hall on the Broadmoor Land Swap. It's important everyone show up. There will be a panel including the Jack and Karen duet (Bmoor CEO and Parks Director) along with supporter Lee Wolfe and opposers Richard Skorman and Michael Chaussee -- a little imbalanced, we think, but we shall overcome and make the best of it. So, back up these brave souls and come prepared with questions/comments -- the public gets to ask a 12 of the panelists and the panelists will be asking each other questions as well. If you feel like you are being managed or not allowed to speak, use your voice to politely object. Except for Preppy Jack (he has great sweaters), the rest of these leaders work for YOU. Don't let them push you around. Demand the respect you deserve. Public will be allowed to comment. There are new updates on the City page -- we have some more to share on that later. 6 p.m. Monday, March 14 Broadmoor Community Church, 315 Lake Ave. Phone: (719) 385-5470 E-mail: Kcking@springsgov.com Follow @SenKeithKing Can't make it?
