William "Dave" Sanders was tragically killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Coach Sanders died a hero that day - making the ultimate sacrifice and risking his life to save an untold number (in the hundreds, if not more) of students from two killers. Thanks to him, those students all went home to their families that day. He, however, did not. While many people may remember the killers, this is about remembering the hero: Coach Sanders.

Coach Sanders is the epitome of what it means to be a Coloradan. He was a honest and hard-working family man. He loved all things Colorado - the Broncos, Nuggets, and Rockies; camping; and BBQs. He was Colorado through and through.

This petition is to rename the stretch of C470 between Bowles and Platte Canyon the "Dave Sanders Memorial Highway." As a true Coloradan who IS the legacy of Columbine, we hope that you will join us in supporting this initiative. Let us honor Coach Sanders with action and leave his long-lasting legacy for all of Colorado.
