John Hickenlooper is an American politician, businessman, and geologist who served as the 42nd Governor of Colorado from 2011 to 2019. He was also Mayor of Denver from 2003 to 2011. Hickenlooper, a member of the Democratic Party, was the Democratic nominee for a US Senate seat from Colorado in the 2020 elections, which he won. Before entering politics, he was a geologist and later co-founded the Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver. Known for his centrist approach to politics, he has enjoyed a reputation for bipartisanship throughout his political career.
