We the undersigned support the motion before Collingwood Town Council at the upcoming October 16th meeting to declare a climate crisis. The acknowledgement of a genuine crisis on the part of the municipality demonstrates environmental leadership at a time when leadership is desperately needed. It is our sincere hope that this motion is adopted by the town, creating the necessary sense of urgency to enact policies that support our climate and ecosystem. The severity and inevitability of global heating will be acknowledged by incorporating climate risk and mitigation into all areas of local planning and decision-making.
