Helen Laibach started this petition to Collier County Sheriff Sheriff

On Dec 29, 2021 an 8-year-old endangered Malayan tiger named Eko at the Naples Zoo had to be killed when River Rosenquist stuck his arm into the tiger enclosure and the tiger grabbed a hold of his arm. There was not a tranquilizer gun immediately available so the responding deputy had to shoot the tiger to save Mr. Rosenquist. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office said “Mr. Rosenquist, who worked for a cleaning service hired by the zoo, had entered an “unauthorized area” near a tiger enclosure after the zoo had closed for the day. The cleaning company is responsible for cleaning restrooms and the gift shop, not animal enclosures.”

Citing initial reports, the Sheriff’s office said “that the tiger had grabbed Mr. Rosenquist’s arm and pulled it into the enclosure after Mr. Rosenquist crossed over a fenced barrier and put his arm through the fencing around the enclosure.” This was not a tragic accident, Eko was killed because of this man’s willful and conscious actions.

The sheriff’s office also said an investigation would determine whether criminal charges would be filed against Mr. Rosenquist.

This petition is to insist that criminal charges be filed against River Rosenquist. It’s because of his selfish actions that this endangered tiger had to die.
