The Bowling Green State University chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha was placed under investigation on March 5, 2021 due to events of the night prior which led to the hospitalization of a student hours later. This is believed to be a hazing incident, which Pi Kappa Alpha is no stranger to. While this seems to be the first hospitilization connected to the fraternity, it is one too many. This petition is calling for the permanent removal of Pi Kappa Alpha effective immediately by the University. As Bowling Green State University students, we refuse to stand behind the same people that would allow the loss of a beloved student on a campus organization’s off-campus housing.

With the update of this petition, we are calling for a rewriting of Bowling Green State University’s hazing policy. Pi Kappa Alpha has been in headlines related to the university many times within the past fifteen years, yet were able to remain on campus no matter what they did. This petition is in support of a no second chances hazing policy. If a single act is committed, investigated, and members are found to be guilty, they should be expelled from the university, not just their specific greek house. There is no place for hazing at Bowling Green State University, yet students that participate in such actions are permitted to remain at the University. Every situation should be addressed as a worst case scenario, and those involved should be handled as such.
