The students demand that our spring break be reinstated. I’ll remind you, this semester CofC has already taken our fall break. This means we’ll have no weekdays off this term, and now we’ve received news that our spring break has been canceled due to a fear of us traveling. There is no rationale behind this, we should at the very least be able to keep our week-long mental break while promising not to travel. We only have 7 active cases of Covid on campus, and it isn’t crazy to think that we could just remain in the city during our breaks. It doesn’t matter whether the school fears we’ll travel or not, having our necessary mental breaks taken from us is simply an injustice. How do you expect kids to do well doing three months straight of schoolwork? It’s simply ridiculous. By creating this petition, I hope to return this break to the students, under the conditions of promising to remain in Chucktown and get tested for COVID, if necessary. It is not fair to any of our student’s mental health.
