Make Managerial Economics major at UC Davis a STEM major!

Recently, the undergraduate Economics major at UC Davis officially reclassified as a STEM degree. This creates a lot of opportunities for international students major in Economics major since they now will be eligible for a 24-month STEM OPT extension in addition to the normal 12-month OPT. Meanwhile, international students major in Managerial Economics are not eligible for the same treatment due to the classification of the major.
Similar to Economics major, Managerial Economics major also includes required courses in mathematics, statistics, and econometrics as well as upper-division classes that rely heavily on quantitative skills. The STEM nature of the Managerial Economics major is also demonstrated by the career paths chosen by its graduates: student graduated with a degree in Managerial Economics work in highly quantitative fields such as actuary, operation management, supply chain management, finance, and business analytics.
In conclusion, the University, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and the major department should consider giving Managerial Economics the same STEM major reclassification as the Economics major in the very near future.
