As a residents of College Commons, we've experienced significant disturbances and safety concens due to the closure of the intersection of 96th Street and College Avenue beginning in November 2024 and continuing into January 2025.  Despite the barricades on 96th Street and signs clearly posted for local traffic only, our neighborhood streets became the detour route.  Massive trucks and semi-trucks found their way down our narrow streets, often getting stuck, causing damage to yards, blocking intersections for hours and displacing stop signs.  The disrespect for our saftety was clear as speed limits and stop signs were blatantly ignored.  Walking in our own neighborhood became a hazard with pedestrians threatened and drivers disregarding pedestiran rights as well as ignoring stop signs.
 The current plan is to close the intersection at 96th Street and College Avenue in March 2025.  This closure is to construct the roundabout by the City of Carmel.  We need to take immediate action to prevent the repetition of incidents experienced during the previous closure.  By signing this petition,we are requesting the City of Indianapolis to enforce a temporary closure of our streets at 96th Street to include Pennsylvania Street, Delaware Street, Washington Boulevard, Central Avenue, Park Avenue and Broadway Street to the North. In addition we are requesting that 95th Street and 93rd Street be closed at College Avenue during the same period.  This will offer our community respite and safety during the construction of the roundabout.  This is essential to protect our neighborhood and prevent accidents, disturbances and potential damage.  Please sign this petition to ensure our neighborhood remains save and livable throughout the construction period.
