Let Florida's college students #VoteOnCampus!
The Issue
On July 24th, U.S. District Judge Mark Walker ruled that the ban on early voting on college campuses, which was instituted by Republicans in Florida, was unconstitutional because it limits voting access to large populations of potential voters, specifically young voters. As a result of the court's ruling, the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections has officially announced that they will open an early voting location on the campus of the University of Florida for the November election.
#GatorsForGraham are calling on the presidents of the higher education institutions of our state to join the University of Florida in hosting an early voting location on their campus. By working with their local supervisors of elections, college and university campuses across Florida can help students fulfill their civic duty by providing easier access to the ballot.
Gwen Graham is leading, to ensure that our state is working for all Floridians when she is elected as Florida's next governor. From the Graham family's long tradition of supporting public education and youth civic engagement to Gwen's full support of the restoration of voting rights for felons through the passage of Amendment 4, it is clear that Gwen Graham will be the governor that our state needs at this moment in history.
If you believe like we do, that getting more college educated students to vote will have a positive impact on our democracy, then please join us in sharing this petition and urging your college or university president to get your local supervisor of elections to let college students across Florida #VoteOnCampus!
