It is evident that the use of non-biodegradable materials is severely impacting our environment and our planet. We can do our part every day by making minor changes to our lifestyle. The best place to start is in our grocery store, Wegmans. Every day thousands of plastic bags are given out to customers at 97 different locations. As a beloved grocery store with such a strong returning clientele, we would love Wegmans even more if they minimized the use of plastic bags at their locations. Unfortunately, a plastic bag is automatically given with virtually every and any purchase at the store even if it is only 1-2 items. Additionally, multiple bags are used to keep products separate regardless of their existing plastic protective packaging.  If plastic bags were no longer the default choice at Wegmans, we as consumers can adopt the habit of using re-usable bags. If you need a bag, paper bags should be the default choice. This change will not only save Wegmans money but is an opportunity for profit on re-usable bags. This one simple difference will be beneficial to us as consumers, the planet and Wegmans.
