COLLECTIVE LABOR AND WORKER SAFEGUARDS PETITION—CLAWS

COLLECTIVE LABOR AND WORKER SAFEGUARDS PETITION—CLAWS
The Issue
We, the American Workers of the United States, exercising our fundamental rights as citizens in a free market economy, hereby petition our government for immediate redress of systematic violations of our workplace rights. We are working Americans who believe in free markets, individual liberty, and fair competition. We are committed to restoring the American Dream for those who work hard and play by the rules.
We affirm our belief in capitalism and individual responsibility. However, we recognize that true free markets require fair competition and honest rules that prevent the powerful from preying on the vulnerable. When corporations use their wealth and influence to violate the rights of individual workers, they corrupt the very capitalism that made America great.
We stand behind the COLLECTIVE LABOR AND WORKER SAFEGUARDS ACT (CLAWS). In contrast to the PRO Act, which assumes workers need unions to have power, the CLAWS Act recognizes that all workers require protection when exercising their Constitutional and Section 7 rights, regardless of their union status; however, the people currently running the government lack the vision, will, and purpose to provide the resources for meaningful or effective protection.
U.S. LABOR LAWS ARE A PAPER TIGER WITHOUT CLAWS
- This petition of grievances concerns the fundamental Constitutional rights and well-established U.S. labor laws designed to protect individual American workers. When we speak up to our employers about unsafe conditions, discuss unfair wages, or demand basic dignity, good government would defend us tirelessly; yet the opposite is happening.
- Without stronger Constitutional and labor protections for individual non-union American workers to associate and negotiate with employers for living wages, the “American Dream” remains unattainable for most hardworking Americans. These are rights and laws that have existed for generations, yet guarding them has become performative, meaningless, and therefore profitable for our employers, who freely violate our rights without consequences.
- We, the undersigned, have zero confidence that any current member of Congress or the Administration truly stands with the 170 million U.S. workers.
- You are stuck defending your polar-opposite positions—pro-union or anti-union—seemingly unaware that our labor laws were intended to protect workers' individual rights to associate and negotiate with their employers without the need for a union. By ignoring or overlooking this reality, the other 90% of us are left vulnerable.
- Our rights are a paper tiger, laws without claws. In millions of breakrooms, dreams of better wages bloom, whispered, then wither as quickly from the hopelessness of knowing the government won’t protect us.
- We are the 90% who work hard and play by the rules, watching our rights evaporate in a system designed to fail us. We are the forgotten majority whose labor builds this nation, whose taxes fund these agencies, whose voices deserve protection.
- Our unionized brothers and sisters deserve protection as well. Labor laws with claws help us all.
- Today, we reclaim our dignity. Today, we demand that “I Stand with American Workers” means protecting ALL American Workers.
- Today, we break the silence.
- We demand that the COLLECTIVE LABOR AND WORKER SAFEGUARDS ACT (CLAWS) be made law to provide the resources for meaningful or effective protection of NLRA Section 7 rights.
