Once again (in the West Australian) Mr Barnett has confirmed that the ludicrous decision to ban MMA in the Octagon is HIS personal position. Who do you represent the people or yourself Mr Barnett? The athletes want it (the fastest growing sport in the world), the events industry want it (jobs for locals), the government Combat Sports Commission want it (proven safety record), the Minister for Sport at the time of the decision wanted it, local business want it, the tourist industry wants it (millions of dollars worth of exposure for Perth worldwide when a UFC event is hosted). The UFC have already expressed a willingness to host an event in Perth so why block safety, forgo jobs, miss out on the free global tourist exposure and ignore the wishes of local and Australian athletes and fans? Follow the example set by Sydney and Melbourne(remember the new government ran legalisation of MMA as an election platform and they got elected!)  and remove the ban on proper MMA in Western Australia.
