COLES & WOOLWORTHS TO MAKE THE CHANGE

The issue

Recently it was announced that Coles and Woolworths would be suspending the REDcycle program at all stores nationwide. Given their contribution to soft plastic use nationwide, we think it’s time they took ownership and start investing in our environment, seriously though. The net profit for the financial year 2021-22 was $1.048 billion and $7.93 billion, respectively. Or in this case, disrespectfully.

Isn’t it time our corporates start taking responsibility of their real contributions to our environment? As consumers, we are sending tonnes and tonnes of soft plastics to a storage facility. We need the two biggest supermarket chains to build their own facilities and really prove they care!
