Stop Colchester Borough Council removing free Garden Waste Collections.

The Issue

Colchester Borough Council set to stop FREE Garden Waste collections and make Colchester residents pay.

Liberal Democrat Councillor, Martin Goss, wants to introduce a new stealth tax to plug a £3 million gap in Colchester Borough Councils coffers.

This new tax will see Colchester residents paying a £25 setup fee and an additional fee of £50 a year for the collection of their garden waste.  There is no cap on these fees which are bound to increase in future years.

Martin Goss wants Colchester Residents to throw away their current garden waste bags and replace them with a brown wheelie bin.  These wheelie bins will then be collected on a fortnightly basis.

If you don't join the new scheme (£25 setup fee / £50 a year) you will be required to take your garden waste to your local refuse site.
