Codify Lawrence v. Texas in Kansas!

Codify Lawrence v. Texas in Kansas!
The Issue
Kansas statute 21-5504 lays out the definition of sodomy in the State. Under this law, consensual gay intercourse is illegal. The 2003 Supreme Court decision Lawrence v. Texas overrided this part of the sodomy law. This was a huge step for LGBTQ rights across the nation, but now we must take the next step and solidify it into law. We have all seen how unsecure Supreme Court decisions are and how quickly they may be changed so it is urgent that we do this now.
By amending this law, we protect the privacy and liberty of our citizens and show the country that Kansas is a state that believes in freedom and equality for all, the most basic of American principles.
That is why we call on the Kansas Legislature to codify Lawrence v. Texas and pass a bill to remove gay intercourse from the definition of sodomy.
