Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, is a rising threat to the community of Cobb County. With cases rising in Georgia and Cobb County, it is better to be proactive than reactive when making decisions. The amount of people residents and students come in contact with through the day is immense and poses a risk for transmission. Cobb is on the verge of an outbreak.

Cobb County has a deep background in virtual schooling. With the technology and systems in place, it is safer for all to start virtual school or simply close down schools temporarily.

The act of suspending incentive for all students may seem reasonable; after all, sick students have no motive to attend school anymore. Or do they? Most students wouldn't hesitate choosing to go to school with a cough than making up hours of missed work from an absence. The safer, more rational decision is to simply shut down Cobb County schools altogether.
