This petition is in response to pushback to change the current Cobb County Schools scheduling model. The current schedule allows for frequent breaks throughout the school year, which shortens summer vacation. Please sign this petition if you understand that regular breaks during the school year are good for students and teachers. Fall break, winter break, spring break, and holidays away from school allow families to spend time together and regroup. Frequent holidays prevent teacher and student burnout. They allow for families to travel throughout the school year. Regular breaks also give teachers additional planning time in an age where America's teachers are inundated with mounds of data collection and other paperwork. Let's face it, schools are not daycares. We should not be basing scheduling decisions on whether they work best for our childcare needs. Let's keep the current calendar and do what is best  for our students and teachers. They are what matter here and they deserve the best we can give them.
