Demand Superintendent Chris Ragsdale Resigns

Demand Superintendent Chris Ragsdale Resigns
The Issue
Superintendent Ragsdale has consistently displayed incompetency in his role as the Superintendent of Cobb County schools. He has not followed data or science when developing the return to school plans. He also refuses to wear masks in board meetings, shows a lack of humanity for teachers that have died as a result of COVID-19, and refuses to implement the basic CDC recommendations for face to face learning. His incompetency has been displayed throughout this horrible pandemic. The following examples explains why Chris Ragsdale is unfit and must resign.
- Fiscally Irresponsible-Ragsdale requested 8.1 million dollars from the CARES ACT to ensure schools were safe and ready for face to face learning. Instead of following the CDC guidelines, Ragsdale used the funding to create CTLS. Instead of creating this system, Cobb County virtual students could have used existing systems such as Microsoft Teams. He also used some money to install handwashing stations. However, each school previously had handwashing stations in the restrooms and many of the classrooms. The 8.1 million should have been used to purchase PPE for students and staff and to upgrade each schools' ventilation system. Ragsdale then requested an additional $12 million to spend on building accessories such as lighting, which does absolutely nothing to reduce COVID-19 and keep the students and teachers safe. He is completely incompetent and needs to resign!
- Unprofessional Conduct-Chris Ragsdale shows racist behavior with his unwillingness to work with the entire board. He singles out, bully, and talks down to the minority board members. Each board member represents a large group of parents, students, and teachers. When Ragsdale does not address their questions or concerns, he silences the voices of thousands of parents. It is unacceptable to intentionally disregard thousands of constituents!
- Lack of Parent Communication and Transparency-Ragsdale has refused to provide updates to parents in a consistent and reasonable manner regarding COVID-19. There are several board meetings where he has not address COVID-19 at all. During the January board meeting, it was announced that 2 teachers died. Knowing this information, Ragsdale still refused to provide a COVID-19 update to the community. Parents and teachers are consistently requesting data and none is ever provided. He is not using data to drive his decisions. Cobb County deserves better leadership. He must go!
