THE SITUATION

We believe that Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for President of the United States, is a dangerous man for our nation because of his lies, exaggerations and unscrupulous background. He has ruined many lives with his multiple bankruptcies and abuse of that privilege called credit, made money in questionable ways, and continues to abuse the legal system by clogging the courts with his thousands of lawsuits against anyone who dares to speak the truth against him (3,500 according to USA Today).

Now there is a concern that, due to the fact that the major banks won't lend him money anymore, he's had to go to Russia for financing and is leveraged to the hilt. A recent article in Talking Points Memo, ("Trump & Putin. Yes, it's really a thing") details the financial ties between him and the Russians, not to mention the fact that his campaign chief, Paul Manafort, has successfully worked with dictators and politicians in Eastern Europe. While this is still being investigated, and won't be found out until he releases his taxes, he's running a filthy presidential campaign, designed to win at all costs, not for us, the voters, but for himself. According to online publication, The Hill, not only Trump's campaign manager, Paul Manafort has ties to Russia, but many key people in his campaign.

Imagine a man like that, --thin-skinned and with reactions close to those of a grammar school bully-- not only running our country, but in charge of the nuclear codes and the most powerful army in the world. Additionally, with a Republican congress majority, he's likely to get his way in just about any of his snap decisions. I don't know about you, but I cannot imagine a country led by this man. Third world nations for the most part, have fallen for this type of demagogues, and ended up with destructive dictatorships. We are the most powerful nation in the world, the agents of good, and cannot be led by someone with such negative, and frankly, frightening background. 

THE CORE OF THE PROBLEM

Every time he speaks, the major TV channels cut transmission to broadcast his message, which is full of inaccuracies and exaggerations. Though later, much of what he says is debunked, it is too late. People have already consumed his lies. You cannot undo what's done.

Major news TV networks have, for decades, been the responsible voice of journalism, of hard working folks doing the questioning of the American people to our political leaders. 

We believe it is irresponsible to let Donald Trump take up so much air time to spread lies and half-truths, all done to work in his favor. All this free air time, wasted on someone so dangerous, is a new level of irresponsibility on the part of the major TV News networks.

It is dangerous because this man is running for the most powerful job in the world, and only by poisoning minds, by dividing us, is how he'll conquer, come election day. The fact that the major news networks continue to broadcast his toxic message, just for the sake of ratings, is mind boggling. Especially, if this man becomes president, you can bet he won't hesitate to sue any of these "adoring networks" the moment he doesn't like something they are broadcasting. Ask the journalists of Venezuela, Ecuador, Russia, Iran how is that going for them?

While many of us have the news on throughout our day, to stay updated with daily  events, this irresponsible and greed-driven flooding of Donald Trump's poisonous message into our screens HAS TO STOP. 

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Let's commit, from now on, to turn off our TVs, or change the channel every time any of the news media, begins to broadcast Donald Trump. Let's make sure the networks know that every time they broadcast this nocuous man, their ratings will drop. Please sign here and share with your friends if you agree. Commit to turn off your TV, or simply change the channel to any other channel that does not carry Trump live, whenever he speaks. 

We the people can do this. Our power is in numbers. And by affecting the ratings is the only way these network executives are going to listen. Let's show them that it is us, and our power of the click, that will truly decide. 

I don't know about you, but I've had enough of being fed venomous messages via the news media, which barely questions Donald Trump's false utterances.

Though we may not be able to stop Trump in his dangerous run, we can send a message to the media that we won't accept the daily serving of Trump lies. 

Please sign the petition committing to turn off the TV or change the channel whenever Trump is on. We can do it. Our power is in numbers. I don't know about you, but I want a positive message, and a country with a bright outlook, and I don't hear it from Donald Trump.
