Tell The Media We The People Want The Truth!
The Issue
Chris Mathews has declared that MSNBC and several other networks are planning to announce that Hillary Clinton has won the democratic nomination on June 7th before the Polls close at the California Primaries. This announcement would be mathematically false but justified by the networks due to Super Delegate polling. Super Delegates are unable to cast their votes until July! Regardless many networks continue to add Super Delegate projections to Clinton's pledged delegate count despite the DNC publically stating on live tv that it is inaccurate to count Super Delegate "votes" before the convention. Clinton currently has 1,768 pledged delegates and Sanders has 1,497. In order to win the democratic nomination one must win a total of 2,383 pledged delegates. If neither candidate reaches this number the law provides them the right to make their case at the convention and request votes from Super Delegates. California awards 546 pledged delegates either proportionately or through a winner takes all system making it a pivotal state in the democratic race. I believe that it is misleading and unethical for any network to report inaccurate information to the public especially when they know this information to be false. Furthermore announcing a democratic winner before a winner is actually and legally declared may influence peoples votes and create a low voter turn out in California and other states. Viewers deserve to hear the facts. Please tell NBCs president Michael Edelstein and CNNs president Jeff Zucker you agree!
