Require US Presidential Candidates to "Interview for the Job"

Require US Presidential Candidates to "Interview for the Job"
The Issue
As American citizens, we all know the US Presidency is a big job. Yet we only get to hear the speeches candidates want to give, a few theatrical debates, and a smattering of short press conferences or brief interviews.
If you were interviewing to be the CEO of a large company (or any leadership job for that matter), you'd be asked about your plans and your experience from skilled interviewers. Why can't we demand the same from our Presidential candidates?
Here's what I'd like every candidate to commit to at the outset of their campaign for US President. If they do, we will know that candidate has committed to "interview for the job."
- You will come up with a plan to fix healthcare. This plan will include 5 specific changes you will make as well as be willing to sit down for a 20 minute interview with 1 reporter from Fox News and 1 reporter from CNN to answer questions about the program.
- You will come up with a plan for social security. This plan will include 5 specific changes you will make as well as be willing to sit down for a 20 minute interview with 1 reporter from Fox News and 1 reporter from CNN to answer questions about the program.
- You will come up with a plan about job opportunities for working class people. This plan will include 5 specific changes you will make as well as be willing to sit down for a 20 minute interview with 1 reporter from Fox News and 1 reporter from CNN to answer questions about the program.
- You will come up with a plan about American foreign policy. This plan will include 5 specific changes you will make as well as be willing to sit down for a 20 minute interview with 1 reporter from Fox News and 1 reporter from CNN to answer questions about the program.
- You will come up with a plan that you think will achieve broad bipartisan support about an important issue facing America. This plan will include 5 specific changes you will make as well as be willing to sit down for a 20 minute interview with 1 reporter from Fox News and 1 reporter from CNN to answer questions about the program.
- You agree to sit down for 60 minute open ended “job interviews” with with 1 reporter from Fox News and 1 reporter from CNN to talk about your previous work and life experience, your values, and your leadership style.
- You agree to share three key desired results that are quantifiable to measure your success at the end of 2024.
