In the UK, an 18-year old boy, Adil Rashid, raped a 13-year old girl. Although he was not a juvenile, he was spared a prison sentence on the grounds that "Although chronologically 18, it is quite clear from the reports that you are very naive and immature when it comes to sexual matters."

The judge also said that because Rashid was ‘passive’ and ‘lacking assertiveness’, sending him to jail might cause him ‘more damage than good’.

A report on IBN Live suggests that the boy was spared a jail term for being an Islamic student while an examination of the case suggests that he was let off because he was naive and borderline juvenile and may be abused in a jail.

His upbringing may have definitely affected the way he behaves with women, but it is not sanctioned in Islam. Rape carries very strict punishment in Islam. The headline is factually incorrect, misleading and seeks to suggest that it is okay to rape as per Islamic law.
