3 illegal huts have encroached upon a hillock very close to the VIP guest house in Aarey. According to a morning walker (who has raised an alarm against this nuisance), there is a systematic modus operandi through which the hutments are constructed. First, people torch the greenery in the forest and once the area is gutted, they clear it and then construct huts.

Aarey forest's survival is already being endangered by various unplanned development projects like construction of Metro 3 car shed, Metro office building, slums rehabilitation projects, proposed zoo, hospital, educational institutes, entertainment parks, etc. To add fuel to the fire are these illegal encroachments which are either enjoying the patronage of the authorities or their apathy towards the preservation of the Aarey forest.
