In 2011 , name of the airport was announced as SHAHEEDE AZAM BHAGAT SINGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MOHALI PUNJAB , but previous govt inducted 25 percent stake of Haryana government  in the company building airport .

haryana later objected to this name . Till now no decision is taken in this regard. We are requesting Chief minister Punjab to take final decision in this regard and buy back 25 percent share in company which is with Haryana government .
