yesterday,10 June, the
Tribal Welfare Project Officer Borivali & her team, QUEST Team and a team from the Maharashtra Tribal Ministry, all had a meeting with us ( the various Pada heads & the people of Naushacha Pada) to address the issues of all the 27 villages of Aarey.
The discussion touched upon the Electricity issue, Caste certificate,Portioning of Aarey land for various projects, the Aarey Zoo. etc.
The mood of the meeting lightened up when the PO said that she came to know of the Aarey Zoo from the newspapers, like everyone else!
There was positivity on both sides and we await the plan of action from the Tribal Ministry which has been promised within a forthnight.
Meanwhile we are happy to report that Adani Electricity had many teams working at the village, laying the groundwork of electric cables right around the village.
The community of Naushacha is addressing the issue of how to fund the wiring & meter costs of each household which is now estimated to be between Rs 8000 & 10,000 per household.
