The costs (including policing, clean up, pollution, green house gases, frightening animals) far outweigh the benefits of fireworks. For a new decade,  ditch the fireworks and,  if we must, have the laser lightshows commencing NYE instead of in winter.

They are also disrespectful to the firefighters and victims.
