Yesterday,  the Federal appeals court rules First Amendment Protects Private Possession of AI-Generated Sexual Images of Fictional Children.

 AI-generated sexual images depicting fictional children are still representations of children in sexually explicit situations, even when no real child was used to create them.

The material sexualizes the appearance and characteristics of minors and can normalize the portrayal of children as sexual objects.

Advances in AI can also make synthetic images extremely realistic, potentially complicating efforts to distinguish them from material involving real victims.

 We believe the law should protect children and communities from the normalization of AI-generated child sexual abuse material, rather than allowing technology to create a loophole for it.
