It is time to close the Emperor Valley Zoo and release these poor animals from captivity. No one wants to see animals suffer in the heat and concrete. Instead of zoos, we can build larger eco-wildlife parks that can also attract tourism. The Emperor Valley Zoo could be repurposed, perhaps as a fish aquarium, or converted into a museum rich in Caribbean history. There is no humanity in watching animals suffer for our enjoyment. Costa Rica closed all its zoos and opened wildlife parks where all animals were protected, and their tourism is booming. Protect our birds and we can watch them in the wild, rather than in a cage.
