While artificial intelligence grows our laws need to grow with it. The AI technology is putting power in the hands that should be powerless, letting the American youth suffer without having a hand laid on them. The fact that an image was generated by artificial intelligence does not mean that the child depicted in it is not a victim. I am calling on Congress, state legislatures, law-enforcement agencies, and technology companies to take stronger action against the creation and distribution of AI-generated and AI-manipulated child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Predators will be able to fill their craving for a while but what happens when those legal images become not enough? Instead of catering to the sick minds of child abusers let’s focus on the real victim at hand, the children. Children should not have to suffer simply because technology has made it easier for predators to target them. Our laws need to catch up with the technology before more children become victims.
