The Como Zoo is too small to have animals locked in cages. Let these poor animals go to a sanctuary or a bigger zoo like the MN zoo or be released if they could survive in the wild.

Reasons to close the zoo:

  1. This is a terrible way for the animals to live.
  2. We don’t need two zoos in MN.
  3. I love Como but there should be minimum space requirement for these animals
  4. It’s cruel.
  5. Zoos like circuses should be a thing of the past.
  6. The animals look depressed.
  7. The buildings are small and smelly.
  8. This is an animal welfare issue.
  9. Animals deserve to be treated fairly.

Zoos can be replaced by the many museums we have in MN with stuffed animals like the Bell and bones of animals like the Science Museum where the public can learn about animals. There’s no reason to lock animals in cages so people can see them. Instead you can replace these exhibits with virtual reality or videos of the animals. They all do the same thing every day anyway. They walk in the same circles. You don’t need a live animal for that. I saw some woman taking flash photos of her kids by the depressed looking orangutan. Animals should see other animals. Not people and kids looking at them in vast numbers day after day through a pane of glass. It puts unnecessary strain on the animals.
