Close Animal Rescue Network and Save the Cats
The Issue
No Voice For the Innocent - Animal Rescue Network - Rescue Hoarding Exposed
Animal Rescue Network (ARN), claiming to be ‘Montreal’s Largest No Kill Shelter’ has been warehousing cats in overcrowded, unsanitary conditions, where terminally ill animals have been suffering needlessly and living for years on end in small cages. Viruses are rampant, and the quality of life is non-existent.
The operator, Barbara Lisbona houses over 700 cats in secret locations, including several hundred in her own home. Eyewitness reports of serious substandard conditions have been reported for years, as well as testimony from ARN volunteers, the SPCA, adopters and personal staff of Barbara Lisbona. Testimony has revealed blatant animal neglect and cruelty. Many of these cats are infected with late stage, terminal illnesses. These cats are kept alive despite recommendations from veterinarians to humanely euthanize them.
On August 30, Barbara Lisbona was evicted from one of her secret locations due to unpaid rent and filthy conditions. Up until a few nights ago, this location housed strictly what Barbara Lisbona considered the "unadoptable" cats. These cats had been living for years in a dark, filthy warehouse with no ventilation, little and inadequate veterinary treatment and extreme filth. Because of her forced move, an undercover team was able to enter and take pictures of the deplorable conditions of these animals. These cats are visibly ill, depressed, scared and terribly neglected.
With the latest eviction, brand new evidence has exposed the hoarder operation, once again.
The ARN continues to collect new cats, even though they are over capacity and cannot care properly for the cats they have.
It is clear that ARN is in VIOLATION OF LAW P-42 (3) “THE ANIMAL DOES NOT RECEIVE THE HEALTH CARE REQUIRED BY ITS CONDITION WHILE IT IS WOUNDED, SICK OR SUFFERING”
We petition MAPAQ to close down ARN, remove the cats and have them treated. Work with local groups to get these animals adopted.
