NO ROAD CLOSURES

London Borough of Waltham Forest believes that road closures improve the environment. In fact they:-

1.     Cause people to take longer journeys generating more pollution

2.     Cause increased congestion and pollution on adjoining roads which are not closed

3.     Cause more U turns and reversing and other dangerous manoeuvres, especially when these involve large vehicles such as refuse collection and delivery lorries

4.     Cause delays to emergency vehicles

They provide no benefit at all to people wanting to cycle or walk.

Despite massive opposition from residents the Council continues to come back with leading questions, deceitful terminology and exclusion of many residents from consultation processes until they get the result they want. A recent consultation had a 25% response rate with 60% voting for "modal filters". Most people do not know that "modal filters" mean road closures. This is described as an overwhelming positive response ... 15%.

We want all proposed road closures to be stopped.
