I attended Powys cabinet discussion to discuss plans for Gwernyfed and Brecon today, but it was a sham. There had obviously been a pre- meeting and an amended resolution was tabled 5 minutes before the start which included the closure of Gwernyfed 31 August 2107, reopening 1 Sept as part of the new two site school in Brecon (but only for 11 -16's) and moving to one school in the new build in Brecon 2019/20. Councillors who are Gwernyfed Governors made some very good points as did Mathew Torrance from Brecon but no one was listening . The cabinet when they got to speak were very brief and in the main were complaining in hurt tones over suggestions that Montgomery councillors were treating the south unfairly! When questions were raised by party leaders, by and large the answers were pathetic or evasive. There is a public meeting to discuss this development on Wednesday 24th Feb at 7pm in the drama studioat Gwernyfed to discuss this development.
