Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party has been running racially divisive ads in the lead up to the impending federal election. Although they do not explicitly state this, the meaning and intention is clear. They are a dog-whistle about Muslim immigration. While they were already reprehensible, in light of Friday’s attack on innocent worshippers in Christchurch, Palmer and his party must do the decent thing and remove these ads. Australia does not need more division.
