The Issue

We, the citizens of Clinton, lowa do not find the course of events concerning the proposed hyper-scale data center project to be acceptable or adequate for proceeding with a project of that size. Our health, mental well-being, and trust in our elected representatives have been adversely harmed by the secretive nature of the project, and the reckless continued engagement with the developers, QTS and NV5, and prioritization of their desires and concerns over the citizens. The only remedy to this situation is meaningful and concrete action on the part of our elected representatives.

We demand that our City Council and Mayor recognize our valid concerns over the proposed hyperscale data center projects through the following actions:

Imposing an 18 Month (540 Days) minimum moratorium on all approvals related to data centers or server center projects expected or projected to take up more than 50 contiguous acres.

Pass an ordinance or resolution that any and all data center or server-room/center projects, development plans or equivalent such materials (that are expected or projected to take up more than 50 contiguous acres) pass a citizen/public vote prior to being placed before City Council for final approval.

Thank you.
