Racial Equity and Diversity in Cancer Drug Development

Racial Equity and Diversity in Cancer Drug Development
The Issue
Cancer has no race, so why does new innovative cancer drugs discriminate based on race and ethnic groups?
Billions of private and public dollars are spent on finding new innovative drugs for cancer. Certain cancers such as pancreatic cancer disproportionately affect people of color. Data shows that less than 5% of patients identified in pancreatic cancer clinical trials are Black or Asian.
The FDA is aware of this but are they doing enough? FDA says "Participants in clinical trials should represent the patients that will use the medical products. This is often not the case—people from racial and ethnic minority and other diverse groups are underrepresented in clinical research. This is a concern because people of different ages, races, and ethnicities may react differently to certain medical products."
So now is the time to demand racial equity in Clinical Trials-the first step to finding new therapies.
We need your help to save the millions of cancer patients of color through the development of new drugs that are specific for people of specific races and ethnic groups.
Add your name to the petition so we can show the world how important clinical equality is to all of us. Lives depend on it.
