Tap2Tag Medical Alert devices should be available through the NHS
The Issue
Tap2Tag Medical Alert devices change the lives of people living with complex medical conditions. It allows them to carry their medical information wherever they go and allows paramedics to access this information in the event of a medical emergency. Despite giving amazing peace of mind to everyone who wears one it has been extremely difficult to attract the attention of the decision makers within the NHS. Our customers are quite insistent that these little devices should be available through doctors' surgeries, hospitals and pharmacies.
As a small business with an innovate solution it has been difficult trying to get a toe in the door with commissioners working for the various Clinical Commissioning Groups around the UK. These are the people who decide how money should be spent on a regional basis throughout the UK. In essence we have been able to create a system that allows medical information to be truly portable.
Paramedics take between 20 and 40 minutes on each call out to try and gather information on a patient. This is particularly difficult when the patient is unconscious and they still might not know the patient's name when they are transporting them to hospital in the ambulance. A patient wearing a Tap2Tag Medical Alert device means that all of their information is available at the tap of a phone. This will enable ambulance crews to deal with more calls within a 12 hour shift.
As we are innovators we decided on a new approach. Why not start a petition to see how many people would support the idea that would then give us a little more weight when trying to approach these august authorities again.
So that's why we are asking for your support. Help us attract the attention of the NHS decision makers and maybe, just maybe, we can give peace of mind to a those living with complex medical needs.
