Clifton Springs Primary School - Change Shared gender toilet blocks

The issue

Latest **UPDATE**

THANK YOU so much to every single one of you who has taken the time to sign this. We are so grateful to have such a huge community backing.
We are focussed and determined to have our concerns addressed and to have seperate boys, girls and unisex toilets. We are also asking for the glass interior and exterior walls/windows to be covered so that the cubicles can no longer be viewed from outside the bathrooms.

We want inclusion. We want safety. And we want a school we can continue to love being a part of. Our kids deserve to feel safe at school and right now a lot of them don’t.
There are multiple families who have either taken their kids out of the school or are keeping their kids home until the issues are rectified and there are parents who had their children enrolled for next years prep classes withdrawing their enrolment due to the new toilet blocks and their lack of privacy and security.

The good news is we are making progress!! And we wanted to update the 1500 of you who are helping to spread the word.
Whether you have children at the school, at another school, or simply believe that every child deserves the right to use bathroom facilities in private, please know you are helping us create change to something that is slowly being considered the new “norm”.
If you haven’t shared this petition but would like to help out further, please hit the share button to help bring more awareness to this issue.
We are so grateful to our community who are supporting us in supporting our kids.

We will continue to update you and we work towards a resolution.

Thank you again!

Please help. Our concerns be heard.

This is not just happening in our school and we need to stop it now.

We have been trying to stop this for a year and it has now been built. A unisex toilet block with separate toilets inside but for male female and unisex. This is not what we were told was happening.

We were happy with the idea of adding unisex toilets. We just didn't think that they would take away the two gender toilets and create joint toilet blocks.

We are inclusive but just want private toilets available for female, male and unisex in SEPARATE rooms.

Give our kids the PRIVACY and SAFETY they they deserve!

Anyone else NOT ok with JUST having unisex toilets for primary school?
We have been fighting this for about a year and now they have been installed.
Education department and media have been contacted.. school is not interested in parents or children's concerned and have breached some policies.

Currently working with around 30-40 parents from Clifton Springs Primary school to have this overturned.
We are all for UNISEX toilets being available but we also want MALE and FEMALE facilities available in their own private room!! Not a joint room. I am not happy with my 5 year old, 7 year old and 10 year old girls sharing toilets with older boys, and alot of other parents with both boys and girls feel the same way with children being exposed to or placed in vulnerable situations.

And to add ... girls with their periods already feel uncomfortable as it is just with other girls .. I have heard directly from a whole bunch of grade 4/5 girls who are horrified.

Let's get this more public!
Share around. Please comment.
The education department has stated that this is "the way forward" and is very impressed with their design.
No consideration to what children and parents think. Don't think it won't happen to your child's school! They have told me that ALL new builds and all rebuilds will be like this.

Give our kids the privacy and safety they deserve!!!

There are lots of risks that are increased or issues that arise from this or reasons why people are not comfortable with it.

And they have every right to be!

Religious, Privacy, Trauma, Risks, Abuse, Puberty, Girls and periods, Bullying, children exposed to the opposite genders body parts at a super young age. (Lots of children have been asking questions as lots of younger children go with the door open)

Inclusivity applies to all.

We are wanting the school to listen to our concerns and stop dismissing that we are not comfortable with this.

Please sign and share.
