According to change.org any donations made on a petition serve 2 purposes:

1. They help Change.org promote the petition, guaranteeing views that can help us get more signatures which in turn help increase the chances of the petitions success.

2. They help ensure it remains free to start a petition on change.org

I noticed that since mid February, the guaranteed views of the petition were not happening. I contacted Change.org several times asking for an update and resolution, but they haven’t been able to tell me why the promotions are not getting the guaranteed views or when the issue will be resolved. 

In light of this, if you made a donation after mid February, you may want to ask Change.org for a refund of your contribution. For those who donated earlier, I was able to confirm the views were fulfilled and did generate more signatures so no need to worry. 

To request a refund you can email help@change.org or read more about their policy on promotions in the attached link. If the issue remains unresolved for much longer, I’ll also request change.org to turn off the promotions feature to prohibit future contributions.
