Save TillmanHall started this petition to Clemson University

Tillman Hall on Clemson University's campus has become the center piece of a list of "demands" set forth by a small group of students (approx. 80) at the university called "A Coalition of Concerned Students." They are demanding that the university change the name of iconic Tillman Hall because they believe it is "seeming celebration of the legacy of white supremacy and racism." Ben Tillman was one of the founding fathers of Clemson University, although he was a controversial figure both then and now, he is one of seven life time Board of Trustee members. Clemson University does not have to condone, support, or attempt to justify the things Ben Tillman stood for during his time in order to honor the things he did for Clemson.

Sadly, slavery, racism, and controversy is deeply rooted in Southern history, South Carolina is no exception, trying to erase history will not be a step forward, but a step backwards. As George Santayana said, "Those who do not know history's mistakes are doomed to repeat them."

Please sign and share this petition with family and friends to show your support in maintaining Tillman Hall's current name. As students, alumni, fans, and supporters, we need to let our voice be heard in this matter as well.
